Second seed Aryna Sabalenka will take on home favourite Jessica Pegula in the US Open women’s singles final on Saturday at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York.
Sabalenka entered the final with a straight-sets, 6-3, 7-6 (2) win over American Emma Navarro. The Belarusian is looking to go one better than the runners-up finish she managed last year.
Pegula will be competing in a women’s singles Grand Slam final for the first time after she beat Czech Republic’s Karolina Muchova 1-6, 6-4, 6-2 in the semi-final.
Sabalenka has won five of the seven matches they have contested, including a victory in the Cincinnati Open final recently.
