The disgraced BBC presenter Huw Edwards is due to be sentenced today for accessing indecent images of children as young as seven.

Edwards admitted three charges of “making” indecent photographs in July this year after he was sent 41 illegal images by convicted paedophile Alex Williams over WhatsApp.

Seven of the indecent images shared with Edwards by Williams were of the most serious type.

Of those images, the estimated age of most of the children was between 13 and 15, but one was aged between seven and nine.

Ahead of his sentencing, the mother of a teenager reportedly sent inappropriate messages by Edwards described the “immense pain and suffering” he caused their family.
