Karyne Légaré was arrested Wednesday after Quebec provincial police found her son unresponsive inside a home around 3 a.m. in Coteau-du-Lac, Que., a community located 55 kilometres southwest of Montreal. The boy’s death was confirmed not long after.

Légaré, 29, was arraigned in court Friday where new evidence was disclosed and her legal representation was confirmed. She is currently detained in a jail in Laval, according to Radio-Canada.

There were two other people inside the home when the boy was found. Légaré and the other person were brought to hospital that day.

Her case will return to court on Oct. 11 — the time for her defence lawyer to familiarize themselves with the file, said Crown prosecutor Patrick Cardinal outside of court Friday.
