Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson: Fight time, undercard, latest odds, prediction and ring walks tonight

Must read

Jake Paul and Mike Tyson tonight finally meet in a huge boxing showdown live on Netflix.

The pair were originally due to face off in July, but Tyson, 58, was forced to pull out after suffering a medical scare on a flight from Miami to Los Angeles involving an ulcer flare-up which left him unable to train.

The bout was quickly rescheduled and on November 15 both fighters’ records will be added to in an officially sanctioned professional boxing contest.

Tyson remains the youngest fighter ever to have become heavyweight world champion, a feat he achieved at the age of 20 in 1986 when he stopped Trevor Berbick in the second round, and he went on to claim the undisputed crown in a remarkable career as one of the sport’s all-time greats.

Almost two decades on from when ‘Iron Mike’ last stepped into the ring in a professional bout, a defeat by Kevin McBride in 2005, the legendary heavyweight makes his return in an event that will draw attention from the world of sport and beyond.

It is four years since he appeared for a drawn exhibition clash against Roy Jones Jr, and it was a surprise therefore when the announcement came that Tyson would be fighting Paul at the 80,000-capacity AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Few would have predicted this bout when Paul knocked out former basketball player Nate Robinson on the undercard of Tyson’s exhibition with Jones Jr. The former YouTube star is now 10-1 as a professional, with that lone defeat coming against Tommy Fury and the wins largely over former MMA stars and little-known boxers.

The showdown with Tyson is being promoted by Paul’s company Most Valuable Promotions (MVP), with this the latest step on a boxing journey that he continues to insist will one day lead to a world title.

Paul said recently: “A lot of people are wondering ‘Jake, why are you doing this? Even if you beat him, they’re going to say he’s old’. But to me, Mike Tyson wanted to fight me.

“That is an honour. He’s one of the most famous boxers in the world to ever do it. To step in there with someone of his nature is an honour and a dream come true. It’s going to be a spectacle on Netflix.”

The chief support act of the night sees undisputed women’s world lightweight champion Katie Taylor and unified featherweight champion Amanda Serrano go head to head once again, two-and-a-half years on from their incredible first meeting at Madison Square Garden in April 2022 that saw Taylor edge a thrilling split decision.

Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson purse

UFC legend Henry Cejudo is a close friend of Tyson’s, with the pair formerly hosting a podcast together, and he has previously suggested that the 58-year-old is set to take home in the region of $20million (£15.5m) for fighting Paul.

It is unclear exactly how much Paul will make in total, but he has claimed that it is in the region of a whopping $40m (£31m).

Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson prediction

Paul would not stand even an iota of a chance against the formidable Tyson of his heyday, one of the most fearsome characters and most devastating punchers that boxing has ever seen.

But, alas, this is certainly not the fierce Tyson of yesteryear, but rather a man approaching 60 who has not fought properly for almost two decades and who last won in the ring in February 2003.

He remains in undeniably awesome shape and still appears to be able to tap into that same ferocious winning mentality and mindset, while the significant questions regarding Paul’s qualities as a fighter remain as strong as ever given that he has only ever fought three professional boxers – losing to one in an average Tommy Fury and knocking out two unknowns in Andre August and Ryan Bourland.

However, despite that it is just impossible to look past the younger man by 31 years, who should be able to coast to a comfortable victory in a no doubt bizarre spectacle that will fly past with those eight two-minute rounds and last the distance.
