King rues ‘frustrating’ Coleraine defeat

Must read

Carrick Rangers boss Stuart King says he was “frustrated” by the manner of his side’s 3-1 defeat against Coleraine at the Showgrounds.

Paul Heatley drew Carrick level before half-time after Conor Murray had opened the scoring for the Bannsiders.

Second half goals from Mackenzie Carse and Rhyss Campbell secured the win for the hosts and condemned Carrick to their fifth straight league defeat.

“We’re frustrated because of the goals we concede,” King told BBC Sport NI.

“I thought we did alright in the first half then in the second, for their second goal, we haven’t tracked the runner and then the smallest man on the pitch has scored in the six-yard box for their third.

“We can’t keep giving away goals, it’s so frustrating and we’ve come away with nothing.”

King also conceded that the injury crisis that has ravaged his side played a part in their defeat.

“We came to a full-time outfit with very little. I was asking players to play out of position, asking players to play hurt and it’s the hand I’m dealt with,” King explained.

“I’m not here to make excuses, it is what it is.”
