The injury bug continues to hit the Knicks right before the start of the season as power forward Precious Achiuwa sustained a strained left hamstring and will be re-evaluated in 2-4 weeks.
Achiuwa played in 49 games for New York last season after getting traded from the Toronto Raptors and filled in nicely as the Knicks piled on injuries in 2023-2024.
The 25-year-old averaged 7.6 points, a career-high 7.2 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 24.2 minutes per game, another career-high.
After a strong showing last season, Achiuwa figures to be in head coach Tom Thibodeau‘s rotation this season off the bench. In fact, before the Karl-Anthony Towns trade, the 6-foot-8, 243-pounder would have likely played some minutes at the center position in addition to power forward.
Still, Achiuwa will be a nice piece off the bench when he returns from his injury.
