OTTAWA, Kan. – Ottawa University head football coach Nick Davis is pleased to announce that Kyle Kramer has been named Special Teams Coordinator and will coach the OU defensive line.
“We are excited to welcome Kyle back to the great state of Kansas,” said Davis. “He will take our special teams to the next level.”
Kramer comes to Ottawa University after spending the 2023 season as the Special Teams Coordinator and tight ends coach at the University of Arkansas, Pine Bluff (UAPB). Before his time at UAPB, Kramer was the special team’s senior analyst for two seasons at the University of Louisiana, Monroe. He started his college coaching career at MidAmerica Nazarene University where he spent six years as a member of the Pioneers’ coaching staff.
“I first learned about Ottawa University in 1993 and have always been impressed,” said Kramer. “I’m excited to be working with Coach Davis and the strong staff he has built. I’m looking forward to working with these young athletes and sharing my insight and strengths. Helping them not just compete at the highest levels but win on and off the field.”
Kramer was a tight end at the University of Oklahoma and signed as a free agent with the New Orleans Saints in 1995. Following his NFL playing career, Kramer spent more than two decades in the sports performance and marketing industries. He assisted the NFL Pro Bowl and NFL Alumni in coaching underprivileged youth in Hawai’i and conducted football clinics and camps for many years in the Kansas City area.
He also served as a member of the NFL Alumni Board of Directors and tournament director. Kramer guided fundraising and marketing programs and the organization’s growth strategies. In 2018, he participated in the Nunn Wooten Scouting Fellowship program, created by the NFL in 2015, to introduce interested and qualified candidates to a career in professional scouting. Kramer worked directly with teams to scout and gather information on prospective professional players.
Kramer graduated with a degree in political science from the University of Oklahoma in 1995 and earned his MBA from the University of Texas in 2001.
