Leicester City given much needed boost thanks to international call-up

Struggling promoted Leicester City could be set to receive a much-needed boost to the senior squad after veteran centre-back Jannick Vestergaard has been included in Denmark’s squad for the upcoming October international break according to the Leicester Mercury.

Interim De Røde-Hvide boss Lars Knudsen will look to Vestergaard (32) to once again feature in the heart of his back-three after featuring in a pair of 2-0 wins over Switzerland and Serbia earlier this month during UEFA Nations League play, which very well could signal the big Dane’s return to first-team duties at the King Power Stadium under manager Steve Cooper.

Vestergaard has failed to feature for the Foxes after completing 90 minutes against Spurs and Fulham to open the season, and it has recently come to light that the former Southampton defender has been carrying an ankle injury.

Leicester have yet to secure their first win of the season after a 4-2 loss against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, but a chance to find three points against Bournemouth may be the perfect opportunity for the Dane to find his way back into the XI.
