After being questioned by friend Danielle Olivera in the Summer House season 9 trailer about not living with her boyfriend, Hubbard tells PEOPLE she and Gemma’s dad still haven’t moved in
Danielle Olivera couldn’t believe it in the Summer House season 9 trailer when pregnant Lindsay Hubbard told her that she and her boyfriend didn’t live together despite expecting their first child together.
“I just don’t want it to feel like you’re single momming this up,” Olivera, 35, says to Hubbard, 38, in the teaser.
But Hubbard, who announced the arrival of her daughter Gemma on Dec. 8, tells PEOPLE that she and Olivera sat down after having that initial conversation on the beach and spoke further about the former publicist’s decision not to move in with her boyfriend just yet.
“We went to lunch like a month ago, and once we talked more in depth about the whole living situation, she was like, ‘Oh my gosh, I completely understand your perspective now,” says Hubbard, who recently partnered with Jimmy John’s and enjoyed their Vito sandwich in the delivery room after giving birth.
“I was like, ‘First of all, two years ago you’re telling me I’m moving too fast. Now you’re pushing me to move in before I’m ready,'” the star added.
The Bravo personality clarifies that she and her boyfriend, whose identity she has not shared publicly, still do not live together following the arrival of their daughter, “but he has spent the night and has been by my side 24/7 for the entire past month,” Hubbard says.
“And even though technically this is my apartment, this is our HQ for the home of our daughter and me. He basically brought over a bunch of clothes and toiletries and is essentially going between my apartment and his apartment, but rarely ever leaves me and Gemma,” she explains to PEOPLE.
Hubbard notes that, since she got pregnant only a few months into their relationship, she didn’t want to put more on their plate when it came to moving in together.

“If there’s anything that I’ve learned from my past, especially in my last relationship, it’s that nothing is guaranteed. And when you get pregnant so quickly into dating, I didn’t want to put more pressure on our relationship than a pregnancy and a baby is already putting that —very big, lifelong pressure,” she says. “I would love to say, ‘One step at a time.’ And, yes, it’s a little backwards and it’s a little out of order, but I wasn’t about to add to the to-do list.”
However, “it is being discussed,” Hubbard says of moving in with Gemma’s dad. “My lease is up in June. We talk a lot about school districts and making those decisions based off of where we might want to send Gemma to school.”
In the immediate future, Hubbard says she looks forward to a lowkey holiday season at home in New York City. “For Christmas, we’re not really doing anything because we can’t. She’s too fresh and too new to be exposed to too many people right now; we can’t travel until she gets her vaccines, which is at two months,” Hubbard continue. “So we’re just going to have a very quiet, nice Christmas holiday at home.”
Hubbard says that, aside from being “slightly sleep deprived,” she feels “great” two weeks after giving birth.
“My heart is so, so full,” the reality star says. “You always hear new parents say ‘I never knew love like this existed,’ and then it happens to you and you’re like, ‘I totally get it now.’”
She’ll have the experience of reliving her pregnancy on the upcoming season of Summer House after last season ended with her costar and then-fiancé Carl Radke calling off their engagement.
“This is the first time in a couple of years that I feel good about a trailer and I feel excited to watch,” she says. “Last season was, for obvious reasons, difficult to watch. And even the season before that was also difficult for me. So, I’m really hopeful that this season is a good, positive, exciting season for me. I’m so in love with this little girl, and I miss her being in my belly. So getting to be able to watch that back on this season, I feel like it’s going to make me emotional.”
