Listowel’s Corey Conners leads Canadian charge at 2024 Presidents Cup

Listowel’s Corey Conners has secured his spot on the International Team for the 2024 Presidents Cup, which returns to Canada later this month.

Conners, recognized for his exceptional ball-striking skills on the PGA Tour, was one of six players selected by team captain Mike Weir, joining fellow Canadians Taylor Pendrith and Mackenzie Hughes.

The 32-year-old Conners enters the Presidents Cup riding the momentum of a successful 2024 season, where he recorded three top-10 finishes, including an impressive sixth-place showing at the RBC Canadian Open.

The Listowel native has made the cut in all 22 of his events and finishing in the top-25 on 12 occasions.

Ranked seventh on the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) point system, Conners narrowly missed automatic qualification for the team, making him a prime candidate for one of Weir’s captain’s picks.

This will be Conners’ second appearance at the Presidents Cup, following his debut in 2022, a tough first outing where he, along with Pendrith, went 0-4.

The Presidents Cup, a biennial event, will take place at The Royal Montreal Golf Club from September 24-29.

This marks the second time the competition has been held in Canada, with the previous event in 2007 also hosted at Royal Montreal. Weir, who was part of the 2007 team, famously defeated Tiger Woods in a head-to-head match during that tournament.
