Osman Adam of Calgary is celebrating his second big lottery win, claiming $5 million in the Oct. 9, 2024, Lotto 6/49 Classic draw. No stranger to jackpots, Adam had already won $1 million with Lotto Max back in May 2021. Now, he’s ready to focus on his future.
“I felt calm and collected when I saw the amount,” Adam said while claiming his prize with the Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC). “But that might have been because I had to count the zeroes a few times.”
Adam’s first win allowed him to buy a house and a vehicle, both of which he’s still enjoying today. This time, he’s taking a different approach to his windfall.
“I look at it like: I just bought a new vehicle [when I won] last time,” he said. “I liked it three years ago, and I don’t want a new one now.”
Instead, Adam is exploring ways to make his winnings work for him.
“I’d like to look into investing,” he said. “Real estate, stocks, and bonds, that sort of thing. I’m feeling very focused this time around.”
Adam also hinted at plans for a family reunion overseas.
“I’m looking into taking a trip across the pond to visit some family,” he said.
Adam purchased his winning ticket at the 7-Eleven on 17 Avenue SE in Calgary. He won his $5 million prize by matching all six Classic draw numbers 20, 22, 23, 36, 46 and 47.
The Lotto 6/49 Classic Jackpot draw is offered every Wednesday and Saturday, and is made up of six numbers drawn from a range of 1 to 49. If a ticket sold for the draw matches all six numbers, then that ticket wins the Classic Jackpot $5 million prize. Adam’s win is proof that lightning can strike twice for dedicated lottery players.
