Makeup artists on Facebook vouch for this soft, dense $10 foundation brush

Must read

I don’t know about you, but when it comes to finding the best beauty products, I always pop over to social media. From eye creams to concealers to brow gels, I can count on endless recommendations from women of all ages — and Facebook groups are the crème de la crème when it comes to good budget beauty finds. Well, one day I was mindlessly scrolling through my favorite bargain-hunting Facebook groups and found that dozens of savvy beauty lovers and makeup artists are using the Daubigny Flat Top Makeup Brush.

Everyone has their own method of applying foundation — or any other kind of complexion makeup — and tends to stand by it. So, why is this makeup brush different than using your hands, a sponge or a regular foundation brush? The key is in the short, fine, dense bristles, which are ideal for softly and smoothly applying makeup without losing too much product. Best for foundation, powder, concealer and cream blush, the hexagonal-shaped brush is a cinch to hold and covers a lot of real estate quickly, so you don’t have to keep going back for more.

Don’t worry, it’s super easy to use. Just squeeze or dab your product directly on the brush (less than you think!) and glide it over your skin in circular motions for a flawless finish. This reviewer even noted that since buying the makeup brush they “use less foundation.”

Can we talk about the price? At just $10, the Daubigny Flat Top Makeup Brush is significantly cheaper than other mega-popular application tools. It’s half the price of the iconic pink Beautyblender ($20), and it’s nearly a third of the price of Glossier’s Stretch Blending and Buffing Face Brush ($28) and Selena Gomez’s Rare Beauty Liquid Touch Foundation Brush ($29). None of those products cover nearly as much space as the Daubigny brush, either.

See the rainbow, taste the rainbow! (Er, not really. Eat Skittles, not makeup brushes.)

Makeup artists and non-pros alike have made this makeup brush an Amazon top seller, giving it over 30,000 five-star reviews.

“Better than the Beautyblender,” declared one enthusiastic makeup artist in their five-star review. “As a professional makeup artist who has worked on actors, this brush saves so much time. No joke. Try it!” Meanwhile, another pro called it a “must-have” in their five-star review. “The softness is definitely one of the best qualities but the blending is everything. A must-have.”

“Love this product,” shared this happy reviewer. “It’s very soft on your face and easy to use. You use less product on your face because this brush helps you to distribute the product nicely and evenly on your face and neck.”

“I was somewhat skeptical about this brush,” said a beauty-loving shopper. “I tried it out, and have been using it as my only foundation brush since. My foundation comes out so even and smooth. And I need less product to finish my face.” The same customer also called out the brush’s plastic case, noting that they “travel for work and it has never come open” and that the brush “stays clean and protected” while tucked away.

“It spreads your foundation evenly and leaves a beautiful finish,” wrote this fan. “I’ve been getting compliments on how great my skin looks since I’ve been using this brush. I also use less foundation, and the design of the brush gets every nook and cranny of your face.”

This four-star reviewer loved the softness and streak- and blob-free finish. However, they did warn about caring for the brush. “I washed it the way I do my other brushes but because this one is so densely packed, air is unable to get to the center of the brush and it has taken a full day for it to dry.”
