Manchester City equal UCL’s all-time unbeaten run record 👑

Record-breaking achievements have become a regular thing for Manchester City and Pep Guardiola.

The club cruised past Slovan Bratislava 4-0 on Tuesday, making it 25 games unbeaten in the Champions League and tying the all-time record.

The side they are now level with? Their greatest rivals, Manchester United, of course.

İlkay Gündoğan opened the scoring with his first since returning to the club before Phil Foden, Erling Haaland and James McAtee joined the action.

The win means City have now not lost since their dramatic 3-1 semi-final second leg loss to Real Madrid in May 2022.

In the time since, the club won the famous trophy for the first time, but did lose on penalties to Los Blancos last time around, although the record is only applicable across 90 minutes.

United’s record spanned across the 2007/08 and 2008/09 seasons, both of which saw them make Champions League final appearances. They won the first in a shootout against Chelsea, while they lost the second 2-0 to Lionel Messi’s Barcelona.

The manager of that Barça side? A young Guardiola, rather fittingly.

City will have the chance to break the record when they face Sparta Praha at the Etihad Stadium on October 23.
