Meet Patrick Anderson
At 45 years old, Anderson is one of the most decorated athletes to ever play wheelchair basketball. Paris 2024 will mark his sixth Paralympics after he competed in every Games since 2000 besides Rio 2016. During his previous five appearances, Anderson medaled four times including winning gold with the men’s wheelchair basketball team at Sydney 2000, Athens 2004, and London 2012 as well as silver at Beijing 2008.
During the London 2012 Paralympics, he recorded 34 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists in the gold medal match against Australia to capture the title.
“This is a big honour and special thing,” said Anderson. “This is a special country and an opportunity to represent wheelchair basketball in front of the world and the entire Canadian Paralympic Team. It was very much a surprise. I’ve been chosen, and I will step up. It’s going to be really cool.”
