University of Missouri men’s golf finished second overall of 10 schools at the season-opening Canadian Collegiate Invitational.
Sophomore Veikka Viskari led the Tigers during the tournament and recorded his first top-five finish at Mizzou after spending his rookie season at VCU. Viskari carded an eight-under 208 over the three rounds (69-67-72), setting a new career-best total and topping his previous best of 209 during his freshman season.
Senior Dagbjartur Sigurbrandsson opened his senior campaign by placing eighth overall at -6 (69-68-73). Sigurbrandsson’s eighth-place finish is his best collegiate finish during a 54-hole tournament, while his 210 total is his second-best score.
Sophomore Brock Snyder placed 14th overall at -2 (69-68-77), while Mattias Varjun at +4 (74-70-76) and Bubba Chapman at +14 (78-74-78) rounded out the Mizzou performances.
As a team, the Tigers placed second with a team score of -12 with Notre Dame winning the team title at -17.
Mizzou is back in action in two weeks, competing at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational, hosted by Arkansas.
