More Former Blackhawks Hit The Waiver Wire

Must read

As part of the latest group of players to get cut from their teams and be placed on waivers on October 3, two more former Chicago Blackhawks are among them. These are players played on the team just last season and the Blackhawks moved on from both.

Jarred Tinordi was cut from the Flames after signing a one-year contract on September 10 and Jaycob Megna was placed on waivers by the Florida Panthers who signed him July 5.

Tinordi, 32 years old, played his last two seasons in Chicago, logging 96 games. He was one of the veterans that was there to play games when the rookies were having a harder time.

The hard-nosed defender is focused on defense first and plays a physical game that is tough to play against. He should be one of the first call ups to the Flames if they need any help during the season.

Megna was picked up off of waivers by the Blackhawks last season as the team needed reinforcements. He played just two games for the Seattle Kraken’s AHL team before finishing the season with 44 games for Chicago.

He too is more defensively focused, but it is the second season in a row where he has been placed on waivers. Megna provides defensive depth for the Panthers, but may not get into many games this season in the NHL.

Both Tinordi and Megna should have been no more than depth for the Blackhawks last season, but injuries and most of the young defensemen not being ready really threw a wrench in the plans.
