Exeter City manager Gary Caldwell said there is still “such a long way to go for this team” after their 2-0 win at Shrewsbury Town in his 100th game in charge.
Goals from Kamari Doyle and second-half substitute Josh Magennis helped lift the Grecians to fourth in League One before the weekend’s games.
A club-record sixth consecutive clean sheet in all competitions also means Exeter maintained the best defence in the division and have now won four of their past five matches.
Caldwell said he is “really proud” to reach the century milestone at a club for the first time in his managerial career, and hopes to build on an excellent start to this season.
“It’s really good but there are a lot of people behind the scenes that have helped me to achieve that,” Caldwell told BBC Radio Devon.
“I had really difficult moments last year where everyone stood together and we’re reaping the rewards of that.
“But for me, there is such a long way to go for this team, for this football club and what it can achieve.
“What we are doing at the minute is really special but there is lots of hard work ahead, lots of improvement and hopefully hundreds of games to come after this as well.”
Exeter are pushing for promotion to the Championship for the first time in their history and Caldwell believes they can improve further.
“It’s been two years of hard work, four transfer windows trying to transform the team into this style I want,” the 42-year-old said.
“I want this club to have a team they can be really proud of, but I still think we can play better.
“I still don’t think we’re showing enough for the quality that we have in that dressing room and that’s a really good place to be considering we’re sitting in fourth.
“If we all can see that as players and staff then hopefully we get even better as the season goes on, and who knows where it can take us?”
