With extreme weather on the rise, a majority of Canadians surveyed in a recent poll feel Canada lacks the readiness to deal with emergencies in the country.
The 2024 poll, which surveyed nearly 1,100 Canadians, indicated that 75 per cent of Canadians believe there is an increase in emergencies such as wildfires, floods and other natural disasters across the country.
But three in five Canadians that took part said Canada as a country is not prepared, or somewhat not prepared, to respond to future emergencies.
The survey was the first of its kind in Canada, bringing people from different communities and key organizations from across the globe to explore new technology advancements and solutions to weather-related issues.
So, what can the federal government do to help Canadians feel more secure?
