Two teenagers from Saskatchewan are facing drug and firearm charges in the N.W.T.
Territorial RCMP said in a news release Tuesday that police in Fort Providence investigated a report Friday of two people loitering at a local business. Police located the pair, both of whom had active warrants out for their arrest.
Police also seized a firearm, ammunition, about 108 grams of what they suspect is crack cocaine, and $1,220.
The 16- and 17-year-olds both now face charges of possessing a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possessing property obtained by crime under $5,000, possessing a restricted firearm with ammunition and without a licence, carrying concealed weapons, possessing weapons for a dangerous purpose and careless use of a firearm.
The 16-year-old also faces three counts of failing to comply with a probation order, while the 17-year-old also faces a charge of possessing a weapon contrary to a court order.
Neither can be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
