Nepal secured a 37-run win over Oman in the second match of the Canada T20 Tri-Series in King City, Canada, on Sunday. Gulsan Jha starred with both bat and ball, helping Nepal set 176-6 before restricting Oman to 139 all out.
Oman won the toss and opted to field, with Nepal starting cautiously. Openers Anil Sah (27 off 21) and Aasif Sheikh (27 off 22) built a 39-run stand before Sah fell to Zeeshan Maqsood. Dev Khanal was trapped lbw by Fayyaz Butt for just two, leaving Nepal at 42-2. Kushal Malla (30 off 26) and Sheikh steadied the innings, but quick dismissals left Nepal at 85-4 in the 12th over.
Kushal Bhurtel (20 off 17) and Gulsan Jha then rescued the innings. Jha played an aggressive knock, smashing 40 off 17 balls, including three sixes and three fours. With support from Dipendra Singh Airee (18 off 5), Nepal posted a competitive 176-6. Aqib Ilyas was the pick of Oman’s bowlers, taking 3-32.
In response, Oman’s chase faltered early, with Karan KC dismissing Kashyap Prajapati for a duck on the first ball. Oman captain Aqib Ilyas fell for two, and by the end of the second over, Oman were in trouble at 9-2. Shoaib Khan provided some resistance with 45 off 39 balls, but lacked support from the middle order.
Rafiullah’s 33 off 12 balls briefly gave Oman hope, but once he was dismissed, Oman lost momentum. Fayyaz Butt’s unbeaten 17 off 6 balls was not enough to avoid Oman being bowled out for 139 in 19.1 overs.
Karan KC claimed 3-36, while Jha took 2-14, capping off a superb all-round performance.
