NFL scores, live updates: Chiefs face 49ers in Super Bowl rematch in Santa Clara

Must read

It’s not often that the NFL clears the decks for a nationally televised game on a Sunday afternoon. It’s also not often that we get an early-season Super Bowl rematch between two teams that still have their eyes on getting back to February football.

The Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers have had very different starts to the season. Patrick Mahomes’ numbers have been down from some of his splashier statistical years, but the Chiefs keep winning close games. They’re 5-0, coming off an early bye, and four of their five wins have come by just one score. The 49ers, on the other hand, have a dominant offense despite injuries to key pieces — second in the league in passing yards and third in rushing yards — but have blown a couple of double-digit, second-half leads on their way to a 3-3 mark after six weeks.

While there are two games (Raiders at Rams, Panthers at Commanders) on CBS in the 4 p.m. ET window, the national audience will see Kansas City at San Francisco at 4:25 p.m. ET on Fox.
