Linfield assistant manager Ross Oliver says the better team won as the Premiership pacesetters lost 2-1 to Cliftonville on Saturday.

The leaders moved in front thanks to a Matthew Fitzpatrick strike but the Reds dominated and finally got their reward in the final 10 minutes.

Ryan Curran and Ryan Corrigan netted to secure the win for visitors and Oliver was in no doubt that it was a deserved victory.

“Absolutely, I don’t think there is any argument about that even though we went in 1-0 up at half-time,” said Oliver.

“I don’t think we have any excuses, we just weren’t at it today. We had a chat with the with the boys in there – it was a poor performance all round.”

The result sees Linfield remain two points clear of Ballymena United at the top and with a game in hand.

However, Oliver is concerned with the team’s home form with all three league defeats this season coming at Windsor Park.

“It’s not like us – we’re usually so strong at home.

“It’s something we’ll need to address and address pretty quickly.”
