Ottawa man charged with murder of woman on Woodroffe Ave.

Ottawa police have arrested a 25-year-old Ottawa man in connection with the death of a 57-year-old woman found dead in her Woodroffe Avenue home on Wednesday afternoon.

The Ottawa Police Service homicide unit has arrested and charged Tyler Lambert with second-degree murder.

Lambert appeared in court from the Ottawa courthouse cellblock by video on Friday, when he was formally read the charge against him. He said little, only confirming his name and birthdate.

Wearing a black T-shirt, he had close-cropped dark hair and short facial hair.

His case was adjourned one week until Friday, June 21.

In a brief release, Ottawa police said officers had been called at about 11:15 a.m. Wednesday to investigate a “suspicious death” at a home in the 1200 block of Woodroffe Avenue in Ottawa’s west end.

On Thursday, police said the death of Deborah Owen had been deemed a homicide.
