After battling all season in the NL West and being two of the best teams in the National League, it comes down to one game for the San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Division Series.

Game 5 is on at Dodger Stadium, and this series has had a bit of everything, from fans throwing garbage onto the field to Dave Roberts accusing Manny Machado of throwing a ball at the Los Angeles dugout to Fernando Tatis Jr. having an incredible series to Shohei Ohtani letting his emotions out.

The Padres won eight of the 13 regular-season meetings between these teams in 2024 and have Yu Darvish on the mound in this one against Yoshinobu Yamamoto. Darvish took three turns against the Dodgers in the regular season; he had a 1.72 ERA over 15 2/3 innings with 12 strikeouts and six walks in those games. He also went seven innings and struck out three in San Diego’s 10-2 win in Game 2.

Yamamoto made two starts against the Padres early this season, including the season-opening series in South Korea, in which he lasted only one inning. In Game 1 of this series against the Padres, he pitched five innings and allowed five runs.

The winner of Friday’s Game 5 hosts the Mets, who topped the Phillies in their NLDS matchup, in Game 1 of the National League Championship Series on Sunday.
