A section of the Trans-Canada Highway west of Swift Current, Sask., was closed Monday morning after two collisions were reported.
Police were on site at both collisions, one in Swift Current at the intersection of Highway 1 and 11th Avenue Northwest, and another on the highway near Gull Lake, about 50 kilometres west of Swift Current.
No detours were set up as of 6:30 a.m. Monday, and motorists were advised to use alternate routes, according to the Sask. Highway Hotline.
Another section of the Trans-Canada Highway in the province, from Wolseley east to the Manitoba border, was also closed Monday morning.
Jack-knifed semis were reported on that section of highway, near Broadview at the intersection with Highway 201.
As of 7 a.m. CST, travel was also not recommended on most major roads in the west-central and southwest corner of the province, from Kindersley south to Maple Creek, as well as on roads south of Moose Jaw.
The travel advisories come in the wake of a winter storm that moved through the province on the weekend, bringing freezing rain and blowing snow to a wide swath of Saskatchewan.
