Ukraine reaches a sobering milestone on November 19: 1,000 days since Russia’s full-scale invasion began.
While troops fight fiercely on multiple fronts and Kyiv endures relentless drone and missile strikes, the nation braces for a shifting global landscape, including Donald Trump’s expected return to the White House.
The war has devastated lives, with thousands killed, over six million fleeing as refugees, and the population shrinking by a quarter—marking Europe’s largest conflict since the Second World War.
In a statement to the United Nations Security Council, Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiha called 1,000 days “a very big number.”
“On one hand, it proves Ukrainian bravery in the face of brutal Russian aggression. […] On the other hand, this number proves the failure of the international community, including this esteemed council, to stop wars of aggression and atrocities,” he said.
