PSG Not the Right Fit for Manchester City, Newcastle Target, Claims Pundit

Gianluigi Donnarumma is under fire following his performance in the 2-0 loss to Arsenal on Tuesday night at Emirates Stadium.

Donnarumma made two costly errors that led to Arsenal’s goals. The first came when he came off his line to claim a cross that didn’t appear particularly dangerous. Unfortunately, his decision backfired, allowing Kai Havertz to head the ball into the net.

The second goal saw Donnarumma miss a free-kick from Bukayo Saka. While it can be argued that Arsenal created enough traffic in front of him to obstruct his view, the 25-year-old still attempted to swat the ball away but completely missed, letting it slip into the net.

As a result, questions over the PSG goalkeeping position have resurfaced. Following LOSC Lille’s 1-0 win over Real Madrid, there were discussions over why the Parisians don’t pursue Lucas Chevalier.

The goalkeeper is young and French, so he fits the profile that the French giants want. Nonetheless, RMC Sport Daniel Riolo notes why Chevalier wouldn’t work at the Parc des Princes.

“The issue is that when PSG signs these players, they don’t perform as well once they join the club,” Riolo said on RMC Sport (h/t Foot01).

Chevalier could be in high demand soon, as TBR Football reports that Manchester City and Newcastle United are monitoring the Lille goalkeeper closely.

The 22-year-old is under contract with Lille until 2027 and the Frenchman has made 91 total appearances while recording 36 clean sheets.
