Air Canada Set to Introduce Seasonal Nonstop Flights Starting June 2025

Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) revealed today that Air Canada will launch nonstop flights connecting the Research Triangle area with Vancouver International Airport (YVR) beginning in June 2025.

“Triangle travelers are receiving a welcome gift this holiday season with Air Canada announcing it will begin nonstop service to Vancouver next summer,” said Michael Landguth, president and CEO of the Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority. “This new route connects the Research Triangle to one of RDU’s top unserved international destinations and offers convenient connections to Asia and Western Canada.”

The Vancouver route will run seasonally from Terminal 2, operating three days a week between June 5 and September 30. As a preclearance facility, Vancouver International Airport allows U.S.-bound passengers to complete Customs, Immigration, and Agriculture inspections before departure, ensuring a smoother and quicker travel experience. Tickets are now available for purchase.

“We are thrilled to add non-stop services from the Raleigh-Durham region to Vancouver! Our considerable network from Vancouver means customers in the Research Triangle region have fast, convenient access to visit everything beautiful BC has to offer or connect easily and seamlessly to other destinations in Western Canada, or to Japan, Korea and other international destinations in Asia from our YVR trans-pacific hub,” said Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President, Revenue and Network Planning, at Air Canada.

Vancouver marks the third new international destination set to debut from RDU in 2025. BermudAir is scheduled to launch nonstop flights to Bermuda in April 2025, while WestJet will begin nonstop service to Calgary, Canada, in June 2025. With the addition of the Vancouver route, RDU will offer a record-breaking 12 destinations outside the United States.

RDU to Vancouver Highlights:

  • Service Period: June 5 – September 30
  • Aircraft: Boeing 737 MAX equipped with 16 seats in Business Class and 153 seats in Economy.
  • Schedule: Operates on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays
  • Flight Duration: Approximately 5 hours and 20 minutes
