For the time being, Randy Moss is stepping away from ESPN’s Sunday NFL Countdown due to health reasons. Moss addressed the issue during last week’s show, while explaining why he was wearing blue-tinted sunglasses on-air.

In a statement released Friday, ESPN PR announced that Moss will be away from the show “for an extended time to focus on a personal health challenge.”

“He has ESPN’s full support, and we look forward to welcoming him back when he is ready,” the network added in the statement.

The Hall of Fame wide-receiver-turned-analyst opened last Sunday’s show by mentioning that he was “battling something internally” and that he would be wearing blue-tinted glasses on-air as a result.

“I have some great doctors around me. I couldn’t miss the show, I wanted to be here with you guys, I feel great. But if y’all see me with these Michigan turnover glasses that I have on, it’s not being disrespectful,” Moss said on Sunday. “I’m battling something.”

In a video posted to Instagram last Sunday, Moss said that he had been dealing with the “internal” issue throughout the week of Thanksgiving, and encouraged people to check in with their doctors.

Moss has been an analyst on “Sunday NFL Countdown” since 2016 and is the longest-tenured panelist on the show.
