Rodri sidelined for ‘significant period’ with serious knee injury

Manchester City midfielder Rodri has reportedly suffered a major knee injury that could see him miss the rest of the season.

Reports from ESPN and the Athletic on Monday has claimed that the Spain international has injured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and could well be out for the remainder of the campaign in what would constitute a major blow to City’s title hopes this term.

Rodri limped off during City’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal on Sunday having only just returned to Pep Guardiola’s side following his summer exertions at EURO 2024.

The Premier League champions look like they will have to get used to playing without the Ballon d’Or contender though with a number of outlets claiming that he is likely to be out for the rest of the 2024/25 campaign.

Rodri has been invaluable to City over the past few seasons with the club losing all three of their Premier League games without the midfielder last term.

The 28-year-old would eventually lose in the FA Cup final to Manchester United in May, which was his first defeat in 75 matches for the Etihad outfit.
