Company advancing roadmap to bring customers 10G internet on Canada’s fastest, most reliable internet network

Toronto, ON (September 24, 2024) – Rogers Communications today announced it is partnering with Comcast to bring Canadians industry-leading internet technology.

Rogers will use Comcast network technology, design and expertise to deliver multi-gigabit speeds, enhanced reliability, and lower latency as it starts to rollout DOCSIS 4.0. Comcast uses built-in AI, cloud and edge compute technology to proactively identify and resolve network and service issues, improve network performance, and dramatically increase the reliability of all internet-based services, including demanding applications like gaming, video conferencing and 4K video.

“We’re continually investing in our national coast-to-coast wireline network, which connects over 60% of Canadian households, to deliver the best network performance to our customers,” said Mark Kennedy, Chief Technology Officer, Rogers. “We have a longstanding partnership with Comcast and we’re proud to continue working together to bring Canadians the best internet technology.”

In August, Rogers began trialing DOCSIS 4.0 modem technology in select homes in Calgary, delivering 4 Ggps download and 1 Gbps upload speeds, a global first. These speeds are the fastest available on any Hybrid Fibre Coax (HFC) network and faster than most Fibre to the Home offerings. This builds on Rogers ongoing upgrades to its cable network, which will deliver multi-gig speeds of 2 Gbps to nearly seven million homes by the end of 2024.

Earlier this year, Rogers announced a 10-year agreement with Comcast to bring the latest award-winning Xfinity products and technology to Canadians across the country. Soon, millions of Rogers customers will be able to experience the future of entertainment with a new device powered by Entertainment OS, the next generation of connectivity via the best gateways and devices, as well as an expanded suite of home security products and features all developed by Comcast and Xfinity.
