OTTAWA, Kan. – The (RV) Ottawa University men’s tennis team defeated Southwestern College 7-0 on Monday afternoon at Forest Park.
Ottawa’s no. 3 doubles team of Bernardo Figueiredo and Almog Cohen gave the Braves a 1-0 lead in the doubles point, taking a 6-0 victory over Jeremiah Johnson and Soleymon Claiborne. Santiago Tartaglia and Juilian Toloza’s 6-1 win in no. 2 doubles over Magnus Hauska and David Monroe wrapped up the double point for OU, 2-0. Jhoel Quinonez and Jarmo Perez Wienese won their no. 1 doubles match 7-6 (4).
Tartaglia’s 6-0, 6-1 win in no. 3 singles over Hauska gave the Braves a 2-0 lead in the match. Toloza defeated Monroe 6-0, 6-1 in no. 4 singles and OU led 3-0. Cohen won his no. 5 singles match 6-0, 6-0 over Johnson, giving OU the match 4-0. Quinonez defeated Modol 7-6 (3), 7-6 (3) in no. 2 singles. Perez Wienese took a 4-6, 6-4, 7-5 victory in no. 1 singles over Rodriguez. Valentin Corriger defeated Claiborne 6-1, 6-0 in no. 6 singles.
Ottawa (8-3, 4-0) returns to the court on Thursday, March 28 in Fulton, Mo. against no. 13 William Woods University. The match is scheduled to start at 11:00 a.m.
