STERLING, Kan. – The (RV) Ottawa University men’s tennis team defeated Sterling College 7-0 on Saturday afternoon at the SC Tennis Facility.
Jhoel Quinonez and Jarmo Perez Wienese took a 6-1 victory in no. 1 doubles to give the Braves a 1-0 lead in the doubles point. Santiago Tartaglia and Julian Toloza’s 6-2 victory over Pedro Felipoff and Louis Boisdenghien in no. 2 doubles wrapped up the doubles points for OU 2-0. In no. 3 doubles, Oscar Giorgio and Ben Russell defeated Robin Baransi and Abhyudit Nagar 6-3.
Tartaglia defeated Boisdenghien 6-0, 6-1 in no. 3 singles, giving OU a 2-0 lead in the match. Perez Wienese took a 3-6, 6-1, 6-1 victory in no. 2 singles over Alex Gaboradi and OU led 3-0. Ottawa clinched the match with Quinonez’s 6-2, 7-5 win over Felipoff in no. 1 singles, 4-0. Toloza defeated Garces 6-3, 6-0 in no. 4 singles. Giorgio won his no. 5 singles match 6-3, 6-3 over Zack Hash. Russell, playing no. 6 singles, defeated Nagar 6-1, 6-3.
Ottawa (7-3, 3-0) returns to action on Monday, March 25 against Southwestern College in Forest Park. The match is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m.
