An employee of the New Orleans Saints and New Orleans Pelicans was among the 15 victims to die in the truck attack that rocked the city on Wednesday.

In a statement, the Saints confirmed Matthew Tenedorio worked for video production team of ASM Global, the operator of the Superdome and Smoothie King Center, describing him as a talented young man with a bright future.

The full statement:

“We remain heartbroken by the tragic events that claimed innocent lives in our city yesterday morning.

“Among those lost was Matthew Tenedorio, a valued member of the ASM New Orleans video production team.

“Matthew was young, talented, and had a bright future, helping deliver quality content for both the New Orleans Saints and Pelicans.

“Our thoughts, prayers, and deepest condolences are with the Tenedorio family and everyone affected by this senseless act of terrorism. Together, as a city, state, and region, we will come back stronger from this tragedy.

In addition to the 15 dead, dozens were injured when suspect Shamsud-Din Jabbar, a 42-year-old Texas native and Army veteran said to be inspired by ISIS, drove his truck down Bourbon Street into people along a three-block stretch, crashed the vehicle and opened fire on police officers with an assault rifle. Officers returned fire, killing him.

The horrific attack in the early hours of New Year’s Day caused chaos through the city for the rest of the day. Among the consequences were the postponement of the Sugar Bowl to the following day.
