Salah Shines as Liverpool Crush Spurs in Style

Top of the league at Christmas time and Everton even do us a favour. It’s hard to ask for anything more as a red right now. That being said for all the good there was in this fixture, you bet Arne Slot read the riot act afterwards about the three goals they gave away and the manner in which they were conceded.

However, he wouldn’t have been displeased with an attacking display which blew away a side that hasn’t lost in the league by more than a goal. We look at the lessons learned from a Super Sunday at the Tottenham stadium.

Bow To The King And Pay The Tariff

The ‘everyone but Mo Salah’ story continues and the king was on fine form today. He even criticised our defensive performance post match which was worth it alone. He’s now fourth on our all-time list of scorers and becomes the first player in Premier League history to notch ten goals and assists before Christmas.

Importantly in this one, he struck twice and his assists for Szoboszlai and Diaz were brilliant. It’s worrying that in just over a week he can sign a pre-contract agreement with an overseas club. Get it done Liverpool!!

Diaz Reminder To Everyone

It has been noticed by a few that Gakpo had drawn level in terms of goals and they had seemed to have dried up for Luis Diaz. However, the Colombian reminded everyone how good he is in that false nine role with two excellent goals. It was case of book ends, as the first one was a stunning ball from Trent who made sure another diving header is our first goal.

The second was a great finish too from a tight angle having been fed by Salah for the final strike. He should have had a hat-trick when Forster was in no man’s land, but he moves into double figures for the season.

No Headlines But Different Class

The headlines will have been grabbed by other but Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dominik Szoboszlai were sensational today. The Hungarian was amazing and his stats told the story with a goal & assist, 6 duels won, 5 recoveries and won 100% of his tackles. That maybe his best performance in a Liverpool shirt.

Trent took a lot of stick against Fulham and rightly to an extent, but he can’t be praised enough in this. The Scouser in the team created the most chances for us (5) and made the most recoveries (9). That assist for Diaz’s opener was a work of art. Two players who’ve had criticism deserving of massive praise today.
