Denis Shapovalov headlines the five-man roster for Canada’s first-round Davis Cup qualifier against Hungary next month in Montreal.
The 25-year-old from Richmond Hill, Ont., is ranked 58th in the ATP Tour rankings.
Tennis Canada says the lineup also includes Montreal’s Gabriel Diallo, Alexis Galarneau of Laval, Que., Liam Draxl of Newmarket, Ont., and Vasek Pospisil of Vernon, B.C.
The winner of the Feb. 1-2 tie will advance to the second round of qualifiers in September.
Third-ranked Canada won the Davis Cup in 2022 but has lost in the quarterfinals the last two years.
Hungary, ranked No. 22, qualified for the first-round tie by defeating Egypt in World Group 1 play.

Also Monday, Shapovalov struck nine aces and won 31 of 32 points on his first serve in a swift 6-3, 6-4 victory over No. 9 seed Zhizhen Zhang of China at the Adelaide International in Australia.
Shapovalov never faced a break point in the 67-minute win as he breezed into the second round.
Australians Thanasi Kokkinakis and Christopher O’Connell also advanced.
Kokkinakis was a 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 winner over Japan’s Yoshihito Nishioka and O’Connell posted a 7-5, 7-6 (5) win over France’s Arthur Rinderknech. Alejandro Davidovich Fokina eliminated fellow Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut 7-5, 6-2.
