There have been a few frosty mornings this month in New Brunswick, but this week the snow chances grow, as well.
That’s on the heels of recent rare autumn thunderstorms that brought lightning to Nova Scotia, PEI, and New Brunswick.

This week’s cooler pattern is what will help with the snow risk, especially during the overnight hours Tuesday and into early Wednesday morning. No significant accumulations are expected, but the first flakes of the season tend to catch people off guard.
Will it last? An exceptional fall warm-up returns quicker than you think.
Tuesday overnight through Wednesday:
Scattered rain showers will move south into northern New Brunswick Tuesday afternoon and become more widespread during the overnight hours.
As temperatures dip down, rain may transition to mixing, and even some wet snow.
The chance for these flakes to fly will be across places like Edmundston, Restigouche County, and could even move as far south as Victoria County and Northumberland County, though in higher terrain.
As temperatures rise through the day on Wednesday, the snow will change to back to rain, and the showers will end by the evening hours.
Although snowfall accumulations won’t be anything too significant, the first snow of the season can catch people off guard, especially if drivers don’t have winter tires on just yet.
Spectacular fall weather quickly returns
An extended stretch of spectacular fall weather will return by the end of this week, with temperatures much more typical of September.
Abundant sunshine and warmer temperatures will span the region by Friday, and a sunny and warm weekend will make for ideal conditions for outdoor activities.
