The Spanish Military Emergency Unit (UME) sent hundreds of soldiers to help combat deadly wildfires in Portugal by Thursday, September 19.
The UME said 364 soldiers and 116 personnel from the Emergency Intervention Battalions in Madrid, Seville, and Leon, had been deployed to Portugal.
According to the UME, the military unit established its first-ever Tactical Group Command Post as part of an operation abroad.
Footage posted by the UME shows personnel and vehicles from the UME combatting the fires.
On Tuesday, Portuguese Prime Minister Luis Montenegro declared a state of emergency in all municipalities affected by the fires.
At least seven people have died as a result of the fires, including four firefighters, The Portugal News reported.
