A Stratford man is facing four charges related to a homicide investigation that police say left Kassidy Ballantyne-Holmes dead from a gunshot wound inside a home on Tuesday.

Court documents obtained by CBC News show the accused, Keith Daniel Savile, is charged with second-degree murder, two firearm infractions, and manufacturing a firearm.

Stratford Police were not available for comment at the time of publication but said Tuesday in a statement that they were called around 5:00 a.m. to a home on Ontario Street.

Officers said they found Ballantyne-Holmes, 35, unresponsive and suffering from a gunshot wound inside. She was taken to Stratford General Hospital, where she died from her injury.

Savile, 41, was arrested inside the home and later charged. Police said he was to appear in court for a bail hearing on Wednesday, however, court services in Stratford told CBC News the bail hearing will be on Thursday.

Police said the incident was isolated and there was no risk to public safety.

The relationship between the accused and the victim is not yet known.

More to come.
