Strictly’s Chris McCausland “mortified” by sweet Dianne moment

Must read

Strictly Come Dancing‘s fan-favourite Chris McCausland was left “embarrassed” after a tender exchange with Dianne Buswell was heard by the audience.

In a thank you video to fans posted to Instagram, the pro dancer and the comedian looked back on their waltz to ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ by Gerry and the Pacemakers, which earned them one eight and three nines from the judges.

Teasing her celebrity partner, Dianne quizzed Chris about a sweet comment — picked up by the show’s hidden microphone — he made at the end of their routine.

When the two hugged after their waltz, Dianne said she was “proud” of Chris, who asked her: “Did I do good?”

“You did gorgeously. You did more than okay,” was her immediate reply.

“I didn’t realise the microphone would pick up what I was saying to you,” Chris said in the social media video. “I was so embarrassed when I heard that back. I was mortified.”

“It was very sweet, Chris,” Dianne reassured him as Chris joked he sounded just like an eager child seeking their mum’s approval.

Together with Jamie Borthwick and Michelle Tsiakkas, Chris and Dianne have seen their score increase each week so far, reaching their personal best yet last weekend.

For Halloween Week, the duo will dance to ‘Stayin’ Alive’ by The Bee Gees.

The duo will play a couple of zombies leaving their graves for a boogie on the spookiest night of the year.

Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturdays on BBC One, while spin-off Strictly: It Takes Two airs on weeknights on BBC Two. Both shows are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
