Stacey John-Davis scored an opportunist goal as Swansea City claimed south Wales derby bragging rights over Cardiff City in the Adran Premier.
John-Davis intercepted a pass, took the ball around the keeper and found the back of the net to ensure her side’s 1-0 win in front of a 2,225 strong crowd at the Swansea.Com Stadium.
It had been an error strewn first half for both sides, with the best chance falling to Cardiff’s Ffion Price whose looping cross forced keeper Claire Skinner into a finger tip save.
The second half started with more intensity, as Swansea created more clear cut chances and it was John-Davis who pounced in the 56th minute.
The result sees Swansea move up to second in the table behind Briton Ferry, while defending champions Cardiff slip to third.
Elsewhere Wrexham clinched their first league victory of the season as they beat bottom side Aberystwyth Town 3-1 at Park Avenue.
Libby Isaac turned into her own net on 60 minutes before Amber Lightfoot doubled the away side’s lead.
Imogen Scourfield pulled a goal back for Town, but Carra Jones made it 3-1 two minutes later as Wrexham claimed their first points of the season.
Aberystwyth remain at the foot of the table having lost all four of their league fixtures so far this term.
Briton Ferry Llansawel’s 100 per cent winning record was ended as they drew 1-1 with The New Saints at Park Hall.
Alison Witts opened the scoring for Briton Ferry on 33 minutes, although Molly Havard levelled proceedings before half-time as the visitors conceded for the first time in the league this season.
Rhys James’ side had Courtney Young sent off on the hour mark, although the game ended level as Briton Ferry stretched their unbeaten run to four games – with TNS staying in the top four.
Barry Town United sealed back-to-back victories as they inflicted further misery on Cardiff Met with a 5-1 win in the Welsh capital.
First half goals from Erin Murray and Amy Long put Barry in control against the Archers.
Ellie Preece, Keira Harris and Emily Freeman all netted in the second half – with Met scoring a late consolation as they suffered a fourth defeat in a row.
