The Davis Cup Finals are here, and there are a number of big names taking to court on the opening day of the group stage.

06:05 CET – Marina Stakusic (19) has won the final match of the night 6-2, 6-4 Karolina Schmiedlova (29).

05:00 CET – Marie Bouzkova (26) has shown why she is inside the top 50 players in the world as she won 6-2, 6-2 against Alexandra Eala (19 in Mexico.

04:00 CET – Lucrezia Stefanini (26) proved too good for home player Sofia Sanchez (30) in Guadalajara, winning 6-0, 3-6, 6-2.

01:40 CET – The final two matches of the day have finished in Tunisia as Zeynep Sonmez (22) defeated Rebeka Masarova (25) 6-4, 6-7 (4-7), 6-3 and Ann Li (24) has also progressed. 

00:10 CET – Belgium finish the Davis Cup action with victory over the Netherlands after a deciding doubles match was won 4-6, 7-6 (7-5), 6-4.

23:45 CET – Lucia Bronzetti (26) has won easily 6-2, 6-1 in Monastir to progress after beating Dalma Galfi (26).

23:23 CET – The first two results are in from Guadalajara! Ashlyn Krueger (20) has knocked Tatjana Maria (37) out with a dominant 7-5, 6-2 win.

Meanwhile, Ena Shibahara (26) has also won in comfortable fashion against Kimberly Birrell (26), winning 6-4, 7-6 (7-4).

23:00 CET – There was nothing seperating Australia and France after the singles which left a doubles decider in the Davis Cup and Australia have come out on top!

The partnership of Matthew Ebden (36) and Max Purcell (26) have beaten France’s Pierre-Hugues Herbert (33) and Edouard Roger-Vasselin (40) 7-5, 5-7, 6-3 to give Australia the perfect start to the Davis Cup.

20:52 CET – Top seed and defending champion Elise Mertens (28) has sailed into the second round in Monastir with a commanding 6-2, 6-0 win over Anastasia Zakharova (22).

20:15 CET – In the last of the singles rubbers of the day in the Davis Cup, Ugo Humbert (26) beat Alexei Popyrin (25) 6-3, 6-2 to make it 1-1 between France and Australia before Belgium’s Zizou Bergs (25) downed Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor (28) 6-2, 6-7, 6-3 to level up their tie as well.

Elsewhere, Argentina’s doubles pair defeated Canada’s to rescue some pride after losing both of the singles rubbers.

19:50 CET – Moving over to Monastir, the second day’s play has started with a couple of shocks. Both fourth seed Nadia Podoroska (27) and fifth seed Jaqueline Cristian (26) have been knocked out in the first round. 

Podoroska lost 1-6, 6-2, 6-4 to qualifier Antonia Ruzic (21) while Cristain was dumped out by another qualifier Sonay Kartal (22), who won 4-6, 6-3, 7-5. Elsewhere, Yulia Starodubtseva (24) defeated Suzan Lamens (25) 6-2, 3-6, 6-4.

18:45 CET – Rounding up more Davis Cup results, Felix Auger-Aliassime (24) made it two wins from two for Canada against Argentina after he downed Sebastian Baez (23) 6-3, 6-3. 

Elsewhere, Thanasi Kokkinakis (28) got Australia off to a winning start against France with a 7-6, 7-6 win over Arthur Fils (20).

17:51 CET – Botic van de Zandschulp (28) has drawn first blood for the Netherlands in their tie with Belgium, beating Raphael Collignon (22) 7-5, 7-6 in a two-hour battle. 

The shot that got him to match point was something special. 

16:05 CET – Denis Shapovalov (25) has gotten Canada off to a winning start in their tie against Argentina. Shapovalov defeated Francisco Cerundolo (26) 7-5, 6-3.

14:40 CET – Germany’s doubles pair of Kevin Krawietz (32) and Tim Puetz (36) have beaten Slovakia’s Igor Zelenay (41) and Lukas Klein (26) 7-5, 6-3 to make it three wins from three in their opening Davis Cup tie.

14:15 CET – Aside from the Davis Cup, the WTA action continues today in Monastir and Guadalajara. Play will start at 17:00 CET in Tunisia with top seed Elise Mertens (28) entering the fray soon after.

12:43 CET – Germany have won their second singles rubber with Slovakia with Yannick Hanfmann (32) edging Jozef Kovalik (31) 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 to make it two wins from two for the Germans in Zhuhai.

Next up, the two teams go head-to-head in their doubles tie.

10:50 CET – The group stage of the Davis Cup Finals has gotten underway this morning, with Maximilian Marterer (29) of Germany winning 6-4, 7-5 against Lukas Klein (26) of Slovakia.
