‘The feeling is that Palace’s season starts now’

During the transfer window, there had been a chance that the good feeling around Crystal Palace that had built since Oliver Glasner had been in charge could be taken away.

The Eagles sold Michael Olise and Joachim Andersen and it looked as though they were going to lose Marc Guehi to Newcastle in one of the longest transfer sagas of the summer.

However, after the window closed and the final whistle blew at the match against Chelsea, things have started to feel more positive around the Eagles.

Palace have signed seven players. Three of those could be starting centre-backs, one is a new striker who is a goal threat and they have kept both Guehi and Eberechi Eze.

Maxence Lacroix and Eddie Nketiah were signed on deadline day and were unable to play at Stamford Bridge while Trevoh Chalobah is on loan from Chelsea so would have been ineligible anyway. As a result, the squad was thin and they had four youngsters on the bench.

But now the international break allows manager to work with the new signings and means he will have depth going into the match with Leicester.

The Eagles starting line-up could look very different by the time that game comes around and, with another positive result, they could look to replicate their form from the end of the last campaign.
