These silicone covers keep that pesky gap between your stove and countertops clean — they’re under $15 on Amazon

Must read

No matter how careful I am, something always manages to fall through that little gap between my stovetop and kitchen counter. And if you’re a clean freak like me, you know it’s a pain to try to clean that spot.

Until recently, I would have to pull my oven forward every week to clean the sides of the cupboards, stove and floor. I was worried about moving it around too often, so a lot of times, the residue would sit there until my weekly pull. This all changed when I discovered these stove gap covers on TikTok.

The silicone stove counter gap cover is just that: A cover for the gap between the stove and counter. The cover is meant to fill the gap and prevent anything from falling through. Made up of 100 percent food-grade heat-resistant silicone, it can withstand temperatures up to 230 degrees Celsius. This means it shouldn’t melt or warp when the stove is on. However, it is advised to avoid direct contact with a flame and/or pot.

Available in four sizes, each option can be easily cut to adapt to various sizes and spaces. Installation is straight-forward and easy as is the clean up process. The covers are dishwasher safe and from personal experience, washing by hand is also fairly quick and easy too.

When I first put these in, I’ll be honest, I wasn’t a fan of how they looked. My counters at the time were light grey and the black was very obvious. Now, my counters are darker and I don’t mind them as much.

Looks aside, the gap covers performed exactly as the TikTok videos said the would. They caught all of the residue with barely anything falling through — my floors had never been so clean! The only time I had to pull my stove forward was if something got kicked into the gap from the bottom.

With more than 18,000 reviews and a 4.3-star average rating, most Amazon buyers are quite pleased with this practical, effective and affordable product.

“EVERY in-counter stove should have these,” writes one shopper. “They prevent food falling in the gap.”

Another buyer shares that the covers are “easy to install,” “affordable” and promise that they work well.

While most shoppers agree that the covers do the job, some say they can be rather finicky.

“These do the job,” writes another shopper. “However, they are quite flimsy.”

Another user shares that they “have no way to stay in place,” and need to “constantly be adjusted.”

I have used these gap covers for a couple of years now, and I can’t imagine my kitchen without them. Not only has their appearance grown on me, but the amount of cleaning they have saved me is unmeasurable.

I am always amazed by how dirty they get when I cook because it makes me realize that all of that mess was falling through at one point. They catch everything and are much easier to clean than the floor and stove is, so there’s no going back for me.

For the most part they do stay fairly clean, but I will caution that oil does not do well on the silicone. It is very obvious if it has splattered on it. Thankfully it washes or wipes away just as easily.

They also make the kitchen look better overall, it gives the counters and stoves a clean, seamless look. I’ve recently seen some stainless steel options that I am considering investing in to get an even cleaner look.
