This will be a November weekend you wouldn’t expect in southern Ontario

Must read

This weekend will feature some spectacular late fall weather!

That means this weekend will be unusual for two reasons. Dry weekends have been quite rare during 2024, and November is not known for its sunshine. However, this weekend will be dry until Sunday night and we will see abundant sunshine, especially during the day on Saturday.

Please read on for details on the weekend, and a look ahead to next week.

DON’T MISS: Toronto officially marks its wettest year ever thanks to the summer downpours

As we head into the weekend on Friday, clouds will give way to some sunshine, especially north and east of Toronto. However, areas to the west of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) will remain cloudy for most of the day. Temperatures will be a couple degrees above seasonal.

Saturday will be a spectacular late fall day with full sunshine with temperatures several degrees above seasonal. This will be similar to what we saw last Saturday, but several degrees warmer.

If you have yard work that needs to be done before winter, or if you are planning to put up decorations before Christmas, we’d highly recommend taking advantage of Saturday’s weather.

Clouds will arrive for Sunday, but we will still see some sunshine through the clouds and temperatures will continue to be mild.

A few showers are expected Sunday night, but rain totals will not be significant.

Scattered showers could linger into Monday morning, especially for areas north and east of Toronto. However, we should see sunny breaks as well, especially to the west of Toronto, with mild temperatures.

Back to November late next week, and the chance for snow showers

The end of next week will bring a return to more typical November weather.

A large Texas low will slowly track into the Great Lakes region and bring occasional showers and windy conditions.

Initially, temperatures will be quite mild, but colder weather will arrive late next week and continue through next weekend. In fact, we could see a mix of rain and snow showers across southern Ontario next weekend, along with the potential for bands of lake-effect snow for areas to the east of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay. Stay tuned and check back for forecast updates.
