Three beaches not recommended due to high E. coli counts

Ottawa Public Health said Friday that three of the city’s Ottawa’s four public beaches are not recommended for swimming.

Britannia Beach and the two beaches on Petrie Island registered high E. coli counts in the latest testing.

Mooney’s Bay is the only beach expected to have acceptable E. coli counts.

Heavy rainstorms frequently cause high E. coli counts, due to high runoff levels in an area.

Meanwhile, the City of Ottawa announced wading pools are closed for the day due to rain, outdoor pools may temporarily close if rain affects visibility.
