Typhoon Usagi, known locally as Ofel, hit the Cagayan province of the Philippines on Thursday, November 14, causing flooding and damage to roads, according to the local Red Cross.

Footage released by the Philippine Red Cross shows damage to a bridge in Gonzaga, in the Cagayan province.

The Red Cross said the damage was caused by floodwater.

Up to 200 mm of rain was forecast in the Cagayan province on Thursday, according to PAGASA, the Philippine meteorological service.

Usagi had moved outside the Philippine area of responsibility by Friday, PAGASA said, with attention now turned to the rapidly intensifying Typhoon Pepito.

The northern regions of the Philippines have been hard hit by storms this season, with six consecutive storms registered before Pepito, according to local media.

No further storms were currently tailing Pepito, according to reports, offering much-needed respite for the area. Credit: Philippine Red Cross via Storyful
