Who could feature in Serie A team of the Year and when is it announced?

The 12th edition of the annual Gran Gala del Calcio will take place on Monday evening, which will also bring the announcement of the AIC’s Serie A team of the Year.

Here is the full list of categories and the Team of the Year nominees.

Who could feature in Serie A team of the Year

11 players from a shortlist of 23 will be named in the AIC’s Serie A team of the year on Monday evening at a ceremony in Milan that begins at around 17.00 GMT.

The candidates are selected based off their form from the 2023-24 season, which means that there are some nominees who no longer play in Serie A, such as former Bologna defender Riccardo Calafiori (now at Arsenal), and his former Rossoblu teammate Joshua Zirkzee (now at Manchester United).

Reigning Serie A champions Inter have more candidates than any other side in the division, and have representatives in every position, including goalkeeper Yann Sommer, defenders Alessandro Bastoni and Federico Dimarco, three central midfielders and two centre-forwards in Lautaro Marrtinez and Marcus Thuram.
