A winter weather travel advisory has been issued for Waterloo region, Guelph and Wellington County.
Environment Canada warns as much as 15 cm of snow could fall Monday. Snow is expected to move into the area in the morning, followed by a break in the afternoon.
“Only a few centimetres are expected from this initial round of snow. Another more significant round of snow is expected to move into the area this afternoon or early this evening,” the advisory says.
“The snow will taper off to flurries late tonight with a risk of freezing drizzle.”
Environment Canada says anyone driving, cycling or walking should be aware of hazardous winter road conditions.
“Travel may be hazardous due to sudden changes in the weather,” the advisory says. That includes that surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. As well, visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.
Monday will start at –6 C, warming to –1 C.
Tuesday’s forecast says flurries are expected in the morning with a risk of freezing drizzle and a high of 1 C.
