📷 Wolves score the perfect counter-attacking goal vs Newcastle 👏

Must read

Wolves have had a tough start to the season, with just one point from their first three games, but are currently on course for their first win of the season via a simply perfect counter-attacking goal.

As is so often the case in the modern game, play in the transition can prove absolutely critical, turning defence to attack in a matter of seconds.

In this case, it took less than 10 seconds for Gary O’Neil’s men to move the ball from deep inside their own half to the back of the Newcastle net.

Sean Longstaff was the unfortunate fall guy, gifting the ball to Wolves, who quickly got it out wide to Jørgen Strand Larsen. The new striker, who is on loan from Celta Vigo, sized up Dan Burn and took him for pace, slipping the ball across the box for Mario Lemina to tap home.

However, the true moment of genius came from João Gomes, who showed off some Brazilian flair with a brilliant dummy that made the task for his captain all the easier.

A big second half awaits, but could Molineux be cheering a win in its second home game of the season, after losing the first one 6-2?
